Johanna Sofia Kausch (*1993 in Ludwigsburg) is a Berlin-based cinematographer and editor specializing in semi-documentary visual storytelling. She combines complex societal themes and creative portraits with a unique, emotionally resonant visual style. With expertise in both camera work and editing, she serves as the perfect bridge between filming and post-production, ensuring that each frame is captured with the final montage in mind.
After completing her degree in Media and Communication in Offenburg, Johanna developed a knack for telling subtle, yet impactful stories that engage audiences without being overt. Her thoughtful combination of visuals, music, and sound helps create an emotional connection to her subjects.
Her work on Stara Nova Ljubav (2020), an award-winning portrait of fashion designer Laura Pairan, highlights her ability to turn artistic processes into striking visual narratives. This was recognized by the German Camera Award jury for its complexity and depth. In her latest short documentary, Ponte en mis zapatos (2024), shown at international festivals, she continues to showcase her talent for creating visually engaging and meaningful stories.
